July, which is my birth month ended not so nicely. Towards the end of the month, the country was visited by typhoon Saola and the heavy rains continued till Aug 11 with only a day or two rain- free days.
Last Aug 7, deadly torrential rains submerged much of metro manila. Most major roads in Manila were inundated by knee-to- waist deep floodwaters. Some flights were delayed or cancelled. Power, water and communications in flooded areas were disrupted.

GMA news reported that DPWH presented a masterplan to prevent flood to the President last Aug 13. The masterplan identifies a long list of flood infrastructure projects that will be implemented over the long term- until 2035.Wow! In the meantime, as citizens of this beloved country, what do we do?
