Hey, I admit that I am totally a coffee buff.
It might be interesting to discover how the coffee houses started.. way way before Starbucks.
It is surprising to know that the first ever recorded coffee house started in Turkey.

Le Procope is another coffee shop said to be the oldest coffee shop in Paris.It opened in 1686. It was said that this coffee house became a meeting place of intellectuals. This was where Voltaire, Benjamin Franklin and Napoleon Bonaparte met their friends or played chess.

Another historical coffee shop is Cafe Florian which was established in 1720 is a contender for the oldest coffee house in operation.It is located at St. Mark's Square in Venice. It has been serving coffee the past 287 years.Amazing!

The first Starbucks was located in Western Avenue between the years 1971-1976, then it was relocated to Pike Place where it still remains in operation today. Notice that the storefront is narrow. It is an indication of the simple beginnings of Starbucks. This particular branch is I must say, a must -see destination for any tourist.
And now Starbucks are mushrooming all over the world . And though I miss the old architecture, there is something in Starbucks that is inviting to stay on and on... what else but its coffee, the ambiance that makes reading the morning paper and catching up with friends so enjoyable...
